What does visualization actually mean?
There is much information available on visualization, making it often appear as something very complicated and difficult to learn. Yet if we look at the underlying principles it is pretty simple.
You should look for a calm place where you can sit or lie down comfortably and shut out any distractions as the TV, the radio or anything else that can interfere with your practice. Close your eyes, breathe in and out deeply a few times and start seeing the images of your desire or dream as already having manifested and having become your normal reality.
Try to put in as much detail as you can. But don't just take in the visual side, include all your senses: what sounds do you hear in that moment, is there any particular smell associated with the end result of your dream, what are you touching or are you being touched, are you tasting anything new or familiar? Who is sharing this moment with you? Who are these people or pets and are they saying or doing anything in particular?
FEEL the situation of this manifested wish as vividly as possible. Remember, you are already living in this situation and truly enjoying every single second of it.
It is important that you are literally holding the steering wheel in the drivers' seat, means not seeing yourself from the outside as an observer, but experiencing everything through your own eyes and with your own body.
Don't get hung up on any questions that might come up on how you will be attracting your desired ideal outcome. If those questions start running through your mind, just trust and have complete faith, that the universe will show you the most rapid and natural way to bring you to your desire. Your job is to be entirely present in the situation and live in the joyful state that comes with it.
A few details on visualization
A common question is always about the duration that is needed to make your visualization a reality very soon. But in this case it is not about the time you spend on visualization, but the intensity of your feelings that you experience while you're doing it.
So if you're truly reaching the feelings of living in your ideal dream situation, to the point that you start overflowing with love, excitement, happiness, compassion or any other positive feeling, then a few minutes are absolutely enough. It really depends on how long it takes for you to bring yourself into that certain feeling of complete alignment with your manifested dream and it's vibrational frequency.
People are also often confused on the required detail to make the visualization work for them. Again, it is more about the feeling that accompanies your manifested dream than up to which detail you can see all the little things around your dream goal. Of course it is good to see the main subjects and characters as the persons you are sharing that experience with, the specific brand of the car or the 5 bedroom house if that's what you want to attract. But if you don't know the exact color of the stitches in the leather of your brand new sports car it doesn't matter that much, so don't worry about not having too much detail just enjoy the situation ;)
So when is the best moment to actually have a fruitful visualization practice? In general it is most efficient, when you are the most relaxed, so it can be in the morning just after awakening, after a power sports session and the subsequent shower, or just before falling asleep. If you meditate regularly, then as soon as you have reached the state of blissful relaxation of your body and are totally present in pure mindfulness, it is the perfect moment to continue with the visualization practice.
In any of those cases, it is always advisable to do the gratitude practice before starting to visualize: count your blessings one by one and go up to 10. Say “thank you!” in your mind after every single point. Or if you prefer, write down 10 things to be grateful for (it doesn't matter how small you think it is!) and then dedicate yourself to the visualization practice. This single gratitude habit attunes your whole being to a positive and much higher manifestation vibration.
Difficulties that may arise and how to counter them
Some practitioners of the Law of attraction who are just starting out, have difficulties in
getting to the feeling of “what it is like to be” in that manifested reality. Because they might just not know how it would feel to have that desire embodied and as a normal part of their life. In such a case it truly helps to just “try” out that situation or find people who are already living your dream.
Let's say you wanted to have a beautiful house with a gorgeous living room, allowing to spend quality time with your best friends. Flip through any magazines that show such a house from different angles, with your spacious living room, the new bathrooms, the floor coverage, the lights etc. This will serve as a starting point. Then imagine what you'd like to have as furniture for example. So if you'd like to have a huge red sofa, then go to the store and sit on it, touch the material, smell the odor of the new fabric. Take along a friend of yours and sit side by side, imagining you were watching your favorite movie together in your new living room.
Take home all these impressions and use them for the next visualization, including all your senses.
Or imagine you were longing to become a highly respected figure in politics, then you could go and read a biography of a such a person you admire. How they live, with whom they spend their days, what kind of tasks they usually do on a daily basis. How do they dress and with what kind of accessories? What kind of community activities do they undertake or support? If you know any of them to be close to your home, then pass by and grab some information on what the association does exactly.
Collect all the information you can possibly get and then weave those bits of information in during your visualizations. Pick the situation that speaks the most to your unique personality, that gives you the most excited feeling and the biggest joy, in short goosebumps when you just think about it.
Another difficulty that could arise, is the appearance of negative aspects that you attach to the desired outcome. So to say, if you were wishing to be wildly successful in your job, you automatically imagine that it comes at the cost of not spending much time with your family anymore.
This often shows the misconceptions we might have of the desired outcome and its associations. It might stem from any false conditioning in our surroundings or from the fact, that envious people have started rumors on how a certain situation has to necessarily look like, without ever having experienced it themselves.
But as we are creating our own reality, you are completely free to imagine it the way you want it to go! So be sure that you can have the cake and eat it too ;) If this fear is coming up, just imagine that there is no such pressure of having to choose between different ideal outcomes. You can see, hear and act like being very successful at your job and at the same time see yourself going home to pick up your children from the daycare center and to spend a beautiful dinner during the workweek with your entire family.
This is the true beauty of the Law of attraction, you have the freedom to choose! So choose what you like best and indulge into your visualization filled with love, joy, excitement, passion, harmony and every other positive feeling you want to associate it with!
